Paint Your Faith Vancouver Mural Art Exhibit

pyf_5_cmyk_oversize_low My good friend Shallom aka Indigo sent me a lovely email a couple of days ago to inform me that over six months of prep work is finally coming to a close and they are less than 10 days away from starting mural installation for Paint Your Faith Vancouver, a collab wall between Faith47, Peeta, Titifreak and Indigo, located just down the street from where her studio is. In addition to the mural, they’ll also be doing a group show at Ayden Gallery, featuring Chor Boogie, Mediah, Elicser and Siloette (the Paint Your Faith Toronto artists) as well as Dedos, Kaput, Misk, Scott Sueme and Phresha. The project starts April 21, gallery exhibit opens April 24.

On April 28th 2010, the city will be presented with a one-of-a-kind mural, located at 55-57 W. Hastings Street. It will be the collaborative work of four world-renowned aerosol artists – Faith47 from South Africa, Titi Freak from Sao Paulo, Peeta from Italy, and Indigo, a local artist and dancer based in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side. These four artists have been invited by the United Church of Canada to paint their interpretation of faith, as part of their ongoing Paint Your Faith campaign. See www.paintyourfaith.com or www.wondercafe.ca for more information.

This project is a first in many ways – it brings an international team of artists into the DTES. Also, it is the result of the United Church of Canada supporting aerosol artists who are often maligned for their work.

Since the exhibit is relatively close to my downtown office, and I love Indigo’s work and this project looks very cool, most likely I’ll be there. I might post it on Twitter in case people want to join me.
