Tell me your favorite brunch spot in Vancouver (or wherever you are)

I’m a total brunch addict. There, I said it. I think it was the fact that I was raised by a woman who made some of the best breakfasts in the world (my Mom).

Cedar Room at the Tigh-Na-Mara

Mom used to say that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. And she made sure we ate fruit, eggs, beans, coffee, juice.

A traditional breakfast for me

So my question to you is – what is your favorite brunch spot? Bonus points if you’re in Vancouver or the Lower Mainland, as it’s highly likely that I’ll be able to visit that spot! I recently went for brunch with Ianiv and Arieanna to the Tomahawk in North Vancouver. It was awesome!

Bow Valley Grill in Banff. It’s $30 a pop so you don’t want to do it often, but it’s the best buffet brunch I’ve had. They also have a menu if you want to go that way.

I ended up at refuel (on 4th at Maple) for brunch last weekend – total hidden gem so far. Very small brunch menu, but the baked eggs and beans on toast (with sausage and fried egg) were both EXCELLENT! I imagine the other dishes would be equally good. Combine that with 49th parallel coffee and very reasonable prices, I feel sorry for the suckers who continue to line up at Sophie’s a couple blocks away and are missing out on this treasure.

Rhizome and Seb’s, both in Mount Pleasant.

Nothing beats Bon’s Off Broadway for value and hip atmosphere, the opposite of snobby Yaletown.

Hi Saul,

I have trouble with favorites – I tend to enjoy where ever I have been lately as the best!! So instead I have a list of favorites:

Paul’s on South Granville
9th Ave on Broadway
Seb’s on Broadway
Crave on Main St.
(Marina restaurant) under the 2nd narrow’s bridge
(Seymour golf course restaurant) in N. Van
Cooper House (Klahani) just south of Squamish
(Tennis club) at Whistler

My husband and I don’t get out for brunch as much as we used to before kids but it is still one of our favorite outings. Thanks for the post – we’re always on the lookout for new spots.

Best, Lydia

I don’t usually go for brunch but I really like these two places:

Cafe Luxy
Sophie’s

And nothing wrong with Denny’s lol (kidding!)

Delish brunch =

Eight 1/2 (only on weekends)
Bon’s (for I’m-out-of-money weeks)
Cafe Barney on Granville (NOT the one on Main, that one’s terrible.)

Cafe Medina, if you can stand the lineup. :)
Jane’s on Hastings in Burnaby, as a Bon’s without the lineup!

Abigail’s Part on Yew St (but make sure you go early as they fill up fast on weekends). Crave on Main St also excellent…love their back patio.
