Fire on Broadway and Main (Vancouver)
I just found out this morning via Twitter that there was a fire at the Main and Broadway area, and I came by to check it out. I live very close to the area, and I have had dinner or brunch at several of the affected places before. So, it was important to me to see what happened.
From my view (I couldn’t get much closer) I can see that Kishu Mountain and Slickity Jim’s appear to be completely burnt, Lugz seems very damaged, but from the outside, I can’t see any damage to Militant Penguin (but there might be on the back, or on the side). I see that the accountant office is charred, and I can’t see any remains from Zocalo so I assume it is also gone. Feeling very, very sorry for the business owners of the damaged businesses.
I can see the firefighters trying to assess (now that they contained the fire) the origin of the fire. Very proud of our firefighters too. Apparently the fire broke around 4 am. I am sitting at Waves on Main and 10th but since I have to head to the office, I might not be able to see much more. I am at the office now.

Hearing about the fire made me so sad. Slickity Jim’s was a pillar of the SOMA area. It had one of the best restaurant rooms in the city and served awesome brunches. Will be very very hard to replace
