Happy belated birthday, Dr. N.E.!

So, I am pretty sure I said happy birthday on Facebook, but just in case, I just wanted to have a post for her. My dear friend N.E. did her PhD under the same supervisor that I did. We are so similar in many ways. She is athletic (loves ultimate frisbee), artistic, and multitalented (she speaks several languages, including some Spanish). We are both very much free spirits, and we shared lots of stories of personal and professional challenges as we were working on our PhDs. We are both extremely social and we worked really hard to maintain our networks of friends while undertaking such a lonely task as doing a doctorate. She was one of the very few academic peers with whom I shared my personal blog, and she has always been extremely supportive. For all that you mean in my life, happy birthday (even if a tad belated) and much love.
