On the set of Out for Laughs (new show by @OUTtv)
When it rains, it pours. It really does. Before I went with Emme Rogers to the set of Always a Bridesmaid, I had not really been to a TV set in years. And then, I found out via OUT TV and Gay Vancouver that the new live comedy show Out for Laughs would be hosted by Morgan Brayton
YES, you read that right – Morgan Brayton of Social Signal fame! One of the nicest people out there and a brilliant woman – plus, as I discovered, a very funny comedienne. Out for Laughs took place yesterday night, October 13th, and I took JT along with me. It was a complicated night, as I was having a Skype conversation with Isabella and other two collaborators in Toronto about the possibility of doing Mental Health Camp Toronto, and I had to cut said call short as the show had been scheduled for weeks in advance and there was no way I could cancel. But I couldn’t cancel on the Skype call either, as I am very keen on having MHC grow. Yes, both Isabella and I are crazy enough to help with the upcoming Mental Health Camps. Don’t ask. We are both very committed to the community.
But I digress… so, where was I? Right. At The Cultch, witnessing a fantastic comedic show with some of Vancouver’s and Seattle’s best comedians. Some of them gay, some of them straight, some of them bi, some of them trans, and all of them adorably funny.
The event itself was a fundraiser for Qmunity, BC’s premiere resource centre for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, two-spirited and queer individuals and communities. I had a fantastic time, not only because I got to see Morgan in a completely different world other than the social media one, but also because all the performers were outstanding. If David Jones invites me again to another show, I am SO there.
