A momentous, last minute, impromptu wedding

You know how in the movies, particularly the romantic ones, where all the friends rush to the side of the bride and groom, help in any way they can, and just simply ensure that they make it on time for the wedding?

Well, my good friend B.S. called me last night at around 8pm asking me casually “do you have anything to do tomorrow at 11am?”

I responded “uh, well, a meeting that I can move around, so no worries – what’s up?” She continued “uh, well… I’m getting married at 11am at THIS location”. Of course, I jumped and shouted “CONGRATULATIONS!” Obviously, you can imagine that since she and her now husband (J.J.) are very close friends with other of my very closest friends, we all rushed to be at their side at that incredibly important moment in their life. When B.S. mentioned that she remembered the phrase I’ve always said “friends are the family you choose” I couldn’t stop and shed some tears.

It was funny how we all (HZ and CS, JH, Ml and myself) all called each other to ensure we’d be there. At exactly 11am, we were all walking in and we could just see how BS and JJ were glowing. We were delighted to bask in their happiness and to be able to share in this amazing day. Honestly, I can’t imagine any better start to the month. Great projects coming up with awesome clients, wonderful friends that I get to see again often, and two weddings of four great friends of mine. Can you ask for more? I don’t think so.

Witnessing my friends’ weddings I have come to realize that no matter how much money is valued in this society, love is really what makes the world turn.

Hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend. Mine has gotten off already to a fantastic start.
