Information session for same-sex parents in Vancouver (upcoming event)
Via Gay Vancouver and Out TV, I found out about an upcoming information session that Adoptive Families Association of British Columbia is holding for same-sex parents (gay and lesbian) who are considering adopting. I know several same-sex couples and they are some of the most loving people I could have ever met. I really, really liked the very positive headline that AFABC used: “Children need loving parents. People in the gay and lesbian community make great ones!”
You can read more about the gay/lesbian adoption programme of AFABC by following this link. I’m providing a summary of where and when the information session will be held below.
WHAT: Information session for prospective parents in the gay and lesbian community
WHERE: Roundhouse Community Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver (Corner of Davie and Pacific).
HOW TO GET THERE: Canada Line (Yaletown/Roundhouse Station) or C21/23 (community shuttles) from the Main Street/Science World station.
WHEN: September 17th, 2009 From 7:00pm to 8:30pm (19:00 to 20:30)
Please share with your networks if you deem this event worthy. Thanks!

This sounds interesting, but I think I’m somewhat outside the target audience, what with the “going back to school for four years” and the “being single” and the “seriously? Did I really just eat a sandwich over the sink because I can’t remember which box contains my plates OR dish soap?”
Adoption certainly sounds a better deal than pregnancy to me though.
