The Keg in Yaletown
I hadn’t been to The Keg in a long while, primarily because the last time I went there was for dinner with my Auntie M, who passed away in August of last year, so it really doesn’t bring good memories to go back to any of The Kegs. But recently, Colleen called for a meeting at The Keg Yaletown and those of us who attended had a really good time. I’ll admit that I find this particular location incredibly pretentious and that I was substantially annoyed by the fact that it had a waiting time of about 45 mins to an hour for a table in the rooftop. Admittedly, it’s one of the best rooftops in Yaletown and I don’t blame them for the popularity. The Keg is a really good restaurant, I just think that the atmosphere is pretentious. But then again, I’m an East Vancouver boy (alright, marginally – I live on Main, so I’m sort of near Hipsterville).
Nadia ordered a martini while I ordered first a caipirinha and then a blended mango margarita. The margarita was sensational, although the caipirinha was middle-of-the-road. I had to return it because it was incredibly sour (caipirinhas are supposed to be somewhat sour but that was almost undrinkable). Our waitress was incredibly accommodating and quickly fixed my drink. The company and conversations were fantastic. I will probably go back to The Keg Yaletown sometime with this same group of friends. Hopefully the next time I show up there’ll be enough free space in the rooftop to seat us all.
