My passion for Mexican food

Chiles en nogada Despite the fact that I’ve been lucky in that I’ve enjoyed some of the best Mexican food in Vancouver (see for example my reviews of Don Guacamole, La Casita, Delicado’s, Salsa and Agave, to mention but a few, there is no doubt in my mind that the best Mexican food you can get is in Mexico. And hands down, the person who makes the best Mexican dishes worldwide (I don’t care what anybody else says) is my own mother.

Her “carne con chile y arroz’ (beef steak with chilli and rice) is the best in the world

Carne con arroz y chile

She makes amazing menudo…

Menudo

She makes the best breakfast (the most important meal of the day)…

A traditional breakfast for me

I am SO hungry now. And I miss my Mom. I wish she could make me breakfast after Blogathon. Alas, she is in Los Angeles, where she will be celebrating her birthday (tomorrow). *sigh*

I ADORE Mexican food. It’s one of the perks of living in North America. I lived in London for a while, and discovered that there are virtually no good Mexican restaurants in the UK. :(

Love these pics. Great post. Perhaps I’ll have some Mexican cuisine tomorrow…
