Guest post: Passionate about connections, by Jennifer Priest
I am passionate about connection. Defined as a noun connection is a relationship or association, a link or bond.
Connection is why I am a personal coach and connection is why I am an advocate for and an enthusiast of Social Media.
It is through our connections the spark of growth appears. We have a great conversation with a friend, we read an empowering article on the web, we connect with a part of ourselves we didn’t know existed or we may not have seen for a while.
As a coach it is part of the process to connect with clients. In this context it means to “be with” or “share the experience” of a client.
Connection allows for empathy, understanding, insight and self development . It truly makes the whole process to flow. Connection is an openness that facilitates communication and learning.
Social Media is another form of connection. However, it creates a conversation or an opportunity to touch another, to have an impact or to reach out. It allows so many of us to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Social media informs, challenges, and entertains.
Think about the number of times you connect every day. What kind of an impact does this have on you? What ideas do others inspire? What feelings do they evoke? By allowing ourselves to be connected we take a risk, but one that is a necessity of being fully human.
Jennifer Priest is a personal growth coach and blogs at Dancing in the Moment. Jen and I have grown to become friends and we are both very interested in the field of coaching (although I’m not a coach myself yet). She has given me some really great advice and I’m grateful for her friendship. She blogs at Dancing in the Moment
