Happy birthday, Lorraine (@raincoaster)

About a year or so ago, I attended an event organized by Redwerks on a rooftop. There, I said to Lorraine Murphy (aka Raincoaster) “hi Lorraine, so good to see you!” and hugged her warmly. She probably thought I was out to lunch because really we hadn’t hung out that much, but I have always been this way – open to new friendships.

Lorraine (the skookumchuk of Raincoaster Media, goddess of WordPress.com, owner of the WP.com forums – if not by definition, definitely by right) has become one of my best friends, someone with whom I equally share a good meal, a beer, or simply a walk around the neighbourhood.

Lorraine once was able to get me out of a rut (the worst I had suffered since having my heart broken in 2004) just by talking to me on GTalk (and I’ll always be grateful for that). She is the supreme teacher for Troll Management 101 and while she is not here to celebrate her birthday, I am celebrating it by doing exactly what she likes best – linking to her (because, who in our tech world doesn’t like a linkie). So, happy birthday Lorraine, may you continue to whack trolls in such a gracious and sweet manner :)

Awwwww, thanks! Technorati juice is the bestest present! You’re a great friend and I miss you. We’ll have to go out for a celebratory beverage once I get back.
