Thoughts on South by Southwest Interactive 2010

So, fine… I’ll admit that I’ve been suckered by the allure of the social media, blogging and tech worlds. I’m certifiably, a tech geek by all measures (maybe not a full-blown geek, but at least, a Geek-of-the-Week in the kind words of Stephen Hui, Tech Editor of The Georgia Straight).

I’ve fallen in love with the community, with creating content in a CMS like WordPress, with the world of Blogger Meetups and Tweetups, with the Camps of all kinds, shapes and forms (DemoCamp, BarCamp, Mental Health Camp), and most importantly, with the amazing folks who are my peers in this community. Thus, I’ve decided… I’m going to try and go to South by Southwest Interactive 2010 (SxSWi). Previously, I’ve been invited to cover SxSWi as media (even though in the end, it didn’t work out that way). This time, I am thinking I’m going to try and pitch one or two sessions. I know that some of the people I respect a lot in the social media world presented at SxSWi 2008, and I also know that many of my friends will want to go the coming year. I am wondering what exactly should I pitch. I am in talks with some other colleagues to pitch a session (you know who you are), but if you were in my position (and knowing my work in social media), what kind of session would YOU pitch to SxSWi? Do you plan to attend (I know Kris is planning to attend)? What suggestions do you have for someone like me who has never been? Thanks!
