DemoCamp Vancouver 7 (Social Platforms Edition)
While for some people this may be news, for me it is still amazing to realize that I’ve developed such great friendships with a large majority of the Vancouver tech, social media and PR communities. After all, I really don’t exactly do tech. My primary field is environmental research. I’ve started to do more social media after a year and a half of testing the tools, exploring the platforms and undertaking projects. Of course, things have evolved after more than a year and a half, and now for me, it’s kind of part of my every day life to attend tech-oriented events. DemoCamp Vancouver 7 is not the exception.
Resurrected by my friends from Bootup Labs, DemoCamp Vancouver 7 will focus on social platforms. The two main presentations will be carried out by friends of mine too: Andy Peatling on BuddyPress and Rastin Mehr and Arash Sanieyan on Anahita Social Engine. In addition to the social aspect to DemoCamp Vancouver (i.e. seeing my friends from the tech community that I don’t get to see at other events), I am looking forward to the social networking platform description. I’ve become geekier more and more so I’m really interested in learning about BuddyPress and Anahita Social Engine. DemoCamp Vancouver takes place on Tuesday July 7th, 2009 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at WorkSpace. Details on the event can be found on Facebook. I think you need to RSVP through EventBrite. The link should be there too.
