Flightseeing with West Coast Air
A few of my fellow blogger friends (including Rebecca, Sean, Duane, Erica and Grace) were invited by Tourism Vancouver to participate in a scenic flightseeing a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately, I couldn’t make it then. Lucky for me, the folks of West Coast Air offered Tourism Vancouver to give me a chance to participate in one of these flightseeing tours last Saturday and I said “of course”.
My eldest brother has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, but for the longest time, he wanted to be a commercial airline pilot. So, even though I’ve flown enough times in my life (more often than not, commercial flights for academic conferences), I figured I had to try this at least once in my lifetime, on my brother’s behalf.
And am I ever glad I did. If I may say so, doing a scenic flight tour of the Metro Vancouver, part of Whistler and Bowen Island (in general, the islands) was one of the highlights of my time living in Vancouver. I took video of the whole thing, but since it took me HOURS to upload it on to YouTube (strangely enough – I might have made a mistake with the compression settings) – so you have here just a peek at the period when we were descending. Thanks to West Coast Air and Tourism Vancouver for making my flightseeing tour possible!
