BC Election 2009 – Leaders debate tonight (May 3rd, 2009)
I have made a rule to take Sunday afternoons off. It’s the time that I spend with JT and we’ve worked really hard to stick to the norm of not letting online life take over and just disconnect ourselves from what’s going on in the interwebz. Tonight is a special case where I feel torn. First and foremost, I want to be able to have a disconnected life even if it is for a few hours, and my friendship with JT is really important. But on the other hand, I want to (a) follow the BC party leaders debate because of my interest in BC politics and (b) I want to provide my readers with some updates on the current state of BC politics (also, I’m the editor of BC Vote ’09 so I have a third stake in the issue).
What I thought would be valuable to my readers was to provide a link to Sean Holman (whose journalistic work I value and admire, and who publishes Public Eye Online) who will be liveblogging the event, according to what he told me on Twitter, with Eleanor Gregory and Bill Tieleman (I thought Alex Tsakumis was going to join them?). Anyways, Sean is also using Cover It Live) and his liveblog is linked here
I have also inserted an iFrame with CoverItLive that I’ve programmed to insert all the tweets tagged “#bcelec09″. I would like to kindly ask from you that if you live-tweet the debate, you tag your tweets #bcelec09 so that I can incorporate them. I believe that combining Sean et al’s liveblog with this stream, you’ll have a broader picture of the debate. I will not be online, so if you have comments, you can make them through Twitter (and/or wait until I am back online to moderate them).
I have also included a link to the Twitter search for #bcelec09.
