The Vancouver Sun Run goes all Web 2.0
I used to have a tradition with my friend LJ, for many years: she would run the Vancouver Sun Run (which took place today, Sunday April 19th, 2009) and I’d take photographs throughout the run. Then she would meet me at the finish line and we’d go for brunch. While we don’t do that anymore, I am still fascinated by the Sun Run, and I found it funny that people I follow on Twitter such as Kirk LaPointe (managing editor of The Vancouver Sun), Chris Mathieson (executive director of the Vancouver Police Museum) and Noah Bloom (creator of Vancouver Tech) sent their tweets to the world while they ran.
I had never seen anyone live-tweeting the Vancouver Sun run! Here is the Summize/Twitter Search for Vancouver Sun Run. My friend Derek K. Miller and his band (The Neurotics) followed a long time tradition of playing in the starting line. Not only is Derek a great musician, he is a fantastic photographer. Here is a link to his Flickr stream for this particular event. Congrats to the runners!

It was cool, as I sat on a bench in English Bay, Kirk was sort of keeping me up-to-date via Twitter with what was going on at the Starting Line.
I too took photos! Was great to see 55,000 people!

Ha. I may not have been tweeting while running, but it was great to see @vancouversunrun on there, active use of the #sunrun hashtag, and all the photos and videos (http://www.buzzbishop.com/blog/2009/04/19/team-diabetes-at-the-2009-vancouver-sun-run/) popping up. The number of people running was breathtaking.
