Like no time has passed!

I had the pleasure to meet today with Melanie, one of my best friends from graduate school, and got to meet her little boy (amazing to see that Jakob over 2 years old now!). He IS, most definitely, a beautiful bundle of joy. I have to admit that I praise Facebook for reconnecting me with someone with whom not only I share the same degree (though we focused on different research areas) but also, a variety of interests and a tonne of shared friends.

It’s really amazing how you can reconnect with people who have had a significant impact in your life as though no time has passed! I’ll admit that I’m definitely now very happy that I joined Facebook. That’s how I got to reach out to Melanie again in a much faster fashion than over email or through our blogs (yes, she DOES have a blog. Remember that awesome post “Mom, PhD“? She is the author of that one!)

Ok, Facebook, we’re at peace now. Thanks for bringing me closer to my dear friends and my academic colleagues. Now, please… Facebook, don’t become a time-hog!
