Streams of History Project on Saturday February 7th (Fearless City)
I have known about the Streams of History project for a long while now since my friend Lorraine is precisely a volunteer and educator/trainer with the project Fearless City. In recent posts, both Gillian Shaw (Vancouver Sun) and Rebecca Bollwitt (Miss604/Sixty4Media) highlighted the project, and I thought I couldn’t let this opportunity pass by and highlight this very worthy exhibit. From the FC website
It’s often said that if we ignore our history we are doomed to repeat it. By recognizing and recording the stories of up to 20 sites of historical importance in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, mobile videographers connect past to present, creating an opening for informed reflection on the future. This crossmedia exhibition and web project remixes Labour, Work, and Working People: A Working Class and A Labour History Walking Tour using Web 2.0 strategies to expand the number of voices heard and stories told.
The event starts at 10am with a pancake breakfast and the VJ remix takes place at Gallery Gachet. Check the Fearless City invite and do come, if you can. I won’t be able to attend, but I hope I’ll be able to catch some of the live streaming.
And if you attend the event and would like to write your experiences, I invite you to guest post here on my blog. You can either send me a tweet, an email or drop a comment.

Thank you so much, Raul. It must be said that the originator and guider of the project is Stephen Hill. He’s a great guy whom I think you’ve yet to meet.
In many ways this is Fearless City’s most ambitious project to date, and he deserves a lot of credit for bringing it into reality (with the help of everyone at Fearless City, of course). And it almost goes without saying that April Smith has been doing superhuman feats to make this a success; she’s phenomenal.
Thanks Raul for posting for us! I learned so much from Raincoaster! This event is going to be a success! Pancakes with Blueberries bright and early on Saturday morning! Then watch the different livestreams coming in and showcasing our labour history sites!
Yay – Fearless!
Blueberries? See, I never know anything. And on Facebook, Irwin said there’d be coffee. If he’d said there’d be COFFEE there, I’d have volunteered at the breakfast.
Obviously, we need a gastro-communications specialist.
