The power of social media for social change is amazing, I believe. I was live-bloggging NetTuesday the other day and had a chance to meet Megan Yarema, who leads the project Jabu Bags. What is Jabu Bags? In their own words, their mission is:

To assist rural women in Swaziland with poverty alleviation through employment and skill sharing in the art of sewing, and encourage empowerment through financial independence and training. We also look to ease the strain of HIV/AIDS related issues facing families in this process by providing job opportunities close to home and promoting awareness in the communities.

Personally, I find this project really interesting. Their webpage on Give Meaning can be found on this link, and if you want to purchase a bag, I’d suggest contacting Megan directly (her email is on the website).
