Upcoming event – Stop Homelessness Public Forum (Vancouver)

On Wednesday January 14th, 2009, at the Vancouver Japanese Language School Auditorium (located at 487 Alexander St.), a public forum on homelessness will take place, from 9am to 12pm. While I will definitely attend (simply because of the flexibility in my schedule and also because it is an important topic for me), I find it incredibly stupid to organize a public forum during working hours in the middle of the week.
I don’t know the organizers but I do know some of the speakers, and given my interest in homelessness policy I will definitely be there. I might even liveblog it. My hope is that presenters will connect the dots and speak to the topic I raised here on my blog about intergovernmental relations and the roles of the Federal, provincial and municipal governments in

I have experienced the misery of homelessness at several points in my life and, although there is a certain sense of freedom to it, it is a dangerous and miserable lifestyle that is hard to rise out of. I always give them a dollar or two for the privilege of photographing them. Usually, I am surprised by their cheerfulness and sense of pride. Often, they will show themselves to have some kind of talent. There is a fine line between genius and insanity.
Will attend forum, I’m retired and living on pension so have some time in which to participate in community.
