My New Year’s Eve 2008

Part of my resolution for 2009 was to write more about environmental issues, but I can’t let this opportunity to thank my friends AF and DM for a wonderful NYE party. Months ago, while we were preparing for the New Year/Christmas holidays (I have brothers in the US, Canada and Mexico, so we really need to schedule our holidays and plan MONTHS in advance), I decided that if I had to stay in Canada for the holidays, I would spend it with friends.

My current group of offline friends that has been coalescing from various walks of life has actually been really very good at keeping me grounded and sane. While we deeply missed the company of HZ and CS and JH, who would have spent the NYE with us had they had a chance to do so, we enjoyed the company of SF (whose birthday was precisely yesterday!), the other SF and her sister, ML, BB and JN, BS and J, and NM and her fiancee R. It was a small group, but very fun.

This is a particularly awesome group because with them, I feel like I can be just myself and not worry about anything. I can hang out with them and they won’t judge anything. I was almost late in submitting a job application and they didn’t mind that I edited it on the spot.

For my friends, whom I absolutely adore, I am thoroughly grateful.
