Talk nerdy to me

This is a late night post so forgive if it doesn’t make a lot of sense (no, I did not consume any alcohol tonight – I’m just elated and happy and in a good mood and in a good place). So, I was thinking … I do enjoy talking geeky/nerdy. And I enjoy when people talk nerdy/geeky to me. A few weeks back, Beth Snow and I were having a joking tweeting contest using highly-technical words of our disciplines.

I’ve also noticed that when I attend a tech/PR/social media event, I get all giddy at the mention of the words/phrases that most civilian people wouldn’t really “get”. For example, I was having a conversation about the Ormiston Online coverage of Twitter with my good friends B, H and C, all of them who have at least a Masters (and two of them a PhD degree), last week when we were enroute to the Vancouver Public Library, and we were talking about Web 2.0 and Twitter and all that jazz, and it was SO MUCH FUN to describe to them (another brand/type of geek/nerd) what has now become an integral part of my life.

So, yeah – I am a nerd/geek. I love this kind of talk, in any of my realms. Be it environment, public policy, social media, or Heroes, Star Trek, Smallville, superhero-thingies, I DO like it when you talk nerdy to me :D

EDIT – And the source and inspiration of the “Talk Nerdy to Me” phrase is a T-shirt that I’ve seen on Rebecca‘s blog/Flickr at some point. I *love* that t-shirt!

Two years ago I turned to my friend Shahee and said, “Tomorrow, MIT will spider my blog!” and he looked at me and said, “Ten years ago that sentence would have conveyed no information whatsoever.”

He was right.
