I need help with my RSS feed

I’m somewhat ashamed to admit that even though I have a blog, I own my own domain, and I write each and every one of these posts all by myself, I’ve learned lots about coding and tags, and twemes, and Twitter and all that jazz. I’ve still never fully understood RSS feeds. I have some idea, but haven’t had the time to really delve deep into what an RSS feed is.

I have some understanding that there’s a URL that you add to your Google Reader that allows you to read the feed. Now, I managed to set up my Google Reader to catch some of the feeds of my friends’ blogs, but haven’t set it up for everything.

This morning, I realized that if I wanted to use TwitterFeed, I need to access with OpenID and all that jazz. Took me a long time but I did it. And now, TwitterFeed doesn’t recognize my feed (which in theory is http://feeds.feedburner.com/hummingbird604. The worst part is that my feed shows only fragments of my posts, thus forcing anyone who reads my blog through their RSS reader to come and visit my site.

Of course, many people will be very annoyed at this fact, so could someone please let me know how to set this RSS feed so that you can read my full posts instead of summaries? Thank you.

man, see, that’s the problem with twitter… should I reply in twitter? should I reply in blog comments?

I’ll reply in both.

Your feed URL is actually: feed://hummingbird604.com/feed/

Hi Jodi,

I edited the URL for the feed so that it goes now through FeedBurner :)

http://feeds.feedburner.com/hummingbird604

Hi Raul,

You’re using WordPress right? Is it a hosted version? If so, go to http://hummingbird604.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php

There you can define whether you want the full text or the summary in your RSS feed.

Hope that helps :)

Your using wordpress.com, aren’t you? If so, go into Settings, then the Reading tab, and then look for “For each article in a feed show” and change this to “Full text”.

+1 Gregg – it’s just a setting in WordPress, Raul – check the box in Settings > Reading >
