Cherry blossoms photo-walk tomorrow (Sat Apr 5)

I had previously indicated that I was organizing a photo-walk to take pictures of the cherry blossoms, and given the crappy weather we had had, I didn’t know if it would happen or not. Since some of you have expressed interest in doing the photo-walk regardless of the weather, I figured we could do a first attempt, using one of the locations that would have the best transit access: the Burrard Skytrain station. This location has some beautiful cherry blossoms that we can take pictures of. And then engage in some walking.

Regardless of the weather (which I hope won’t be all bad), I plan to be there tomorrow Saturday April 5th, 2008 at 4:00pm (within the ticket vending machines). I’ll have my camera with me (hence I am hoping I will be easily recognizable). If the weather is decent, we may want to either go to Stanley Park or walk down to Beach Avenue.

Thanks to the hard work of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival organizers, you can find a great map of locations in Vancouver for cherry blossom viewing.

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is organizing lots of events.

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival welcomes you to the third annual city-wide cherry blossom celebration this spring, capturing the exuberance of the blossoming with new cultural programming including the Cherry Jam Downtown concert, Haiku Invitational, Plein-air Blossom Painting, Haiku Garden, BC Blossom Watch, self guided walks with the Cherry Blossom Viewing Map and Picnic, The Cherry Trolley Tours, Bike the Blossoms, and The Pink Tie Affair. There are so many unique ways to enjoy this exciting celebration which you can discover on the festival website. Uplifting city spirits, the ephemeral nature of the blossoms remind us all to take time to celebrate life now. [Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival 'About Us'

There is an interesting walk scheduled for the morning of Saturday April 12th (I’m free after brunch, but then busy at night as I have a great party to go to – hehehe numerous bloggers will be there, I am sure!).

So if you want to join in the cherry blossom photo-walk, feel free to meet at the ticket vending machines at Burrard Skytrain station, Saturday April 5th, 2008 at 4:00pm. See you there! I figure we’ll wait for about 15 mins to see how many people show up and then start the photo-walk. Cheers!

Hi Raul. Sorry I’m missing it. It sounds like a lot of fun and the blossoms at the SkyTrain are particularly gorgeous right now. Let me know if you organize another one of these tours another weekend.

I like how the cherry blossoms are out but they are vanishing pretty quick due to the rain. I’d like to see photos of them though. The April one I’ll probably be up at Cyprus boarding, and then in the evening I’ll be at the Commodore.
