Tweetup at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (@VSOrchestra)

I was raised in a musical household. My Mom was a soprano coloratura, and my Dad played the guitar (classical) since childhood, as well as the piano. We all (my four brothers and I) studied piano when we were children and my brothers play concert-level classical piano (I don’t; though I still play a bit, I moved on to dance and theatre). As I grew up, my parents made every effort to bring us to concerts, not only to play but to simply enjoy them.

So when Mark Robins from GayVancouver.net invited me and a bunch of other Twitterers to an interpretation of Gilbert and Sullivan by Maestro Bramewell Tovey, a concert put on by The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at The Orpheum this past Saturday, I was absolutely delighted. I was joined by several friends of mine: Caroline McGillivray, Rebecca Bollwitt, Marc Smith, Gus Fosarolli, Josh Rimer, Donovan from Homorazzi, Ryan Bazeley, Cynnamon Schreinert and Jay Catterson (from VQFF).

The performance itself was fantastic and I really would encourage my readers to attend. We got some pretty snazzy photos from The Orpheum (as we were invited to go backstage to meet Maestro Tovey). It was a lot of fun.
