After the Vancouver International Tap Dancing Festival 2011, we have another great dance festival to tell you about this month (and to give a lucky reader a pair of tickets for): the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival.

The festival presents flamenco artists performing in a range of styles – from traditional to contemporary, and soloists to ensemble works. As a gathering place for the ever-growing local and national flamenco community, the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival takes the audience from flamenco’s origins as a blend of cultures through to today’s continual evolution of music, song, and dance.

There will be four shows during the festival at the Waterfront Theatre plus a final one at the Vancouver Playhouse:

Wednesday, September 28, 8pm
·   Local Favourites: Tradition Meets Contemporary, Waterfront Theatre, Granville Island, $30/$25
◦     Moraima: Peter Mole, Jose Lara, Michelle Harding, Maria Avila
◦     Rosanna Terracciano solo performance

Thursday, September 29, 8pm
·   Local Favourites: Ensemble Work and the Soloists, Waterfront Theatre, Granville Island – $30/$25
◦     Mozaico Flamenco Dance Theatre
