Summer solstice and Saint Raul

June 21st marks officially the beginning of summer solstice. Seven years ago on this day, I received an incredibly sweet letter from my ex-fiance, one that made me believe that we were in for the long run. I was wrong. We broke up less than six months later. I have had mixed feelings about summer solstice day (June 21st) ever since. It’s a day that celebrates me (in the Catholic tradition, Saint Raoul of Turenne‘s feast is today).
It’s the beginning of one of the seasons when I am usually most productive and successful. And it’s also two days before my Mom arrives to town, so I guess I should be happy and celebrate. So, happy summer solstice! Let’s hope Vancouver decides to actually start showing decent weather from now on!
