Win tickets to It’s a Wonderful Life
Based on the movie by Frank Capra, It’s A Wonderful Life is one of the Anglo-Saxon North American most popular Christmas productions. Even though I’ve lived in Canada for a decade, I somehow have always managed to miss a substantial portion of the Christmas or holidays traditions. I usually fly down to Mexico or to Madrid or Paris for Christmas and The New Year. But this year, I’m going to Calgary late (Dec 19th) so it seems I’m going to do at least one of the more mainstream ones.
I’m going to go see It’s A Wonderful Life. And thanks to the wonderful folks at The Arts Club I am able to give away a pair of tickets to the December 22nd showing at 8:00pm
From the Wikipedia entry...
On Christmas Eve 1946, George Bailey (James Stewart) is deeply depressed, even suicidal. Prayers for George are heard by the angels. Clarence Oddbody (Henry Travers), Angel Second Class, is assigned to save him—and thereby earn his wings. Joseph, the head angel, reviews George’s life with Clarence.
I’m delighted that Bob Frazer is one of the main characters in this production, because he is one of my favorite Vancouver actors. I’ve had a chance to chat with him a few times after opening night (I’ve seen him in several local productions), and he is absolutely lovely.
To win, just comment on this blog entry – you have until Friday at 11am to enter the contest (I have a meeting from 10-11 am so I’ll have the client I’m meeting draw the lucky winner). As usual, thanks to The Arts Club for sponsoring my contests!

Pick me, pick me, pick me!!
Hi Raul,
I just saw the movie and would love to see it again! Merry Christmas and all the best for 2010.
I think I have a pretty wonderful life but to make it extra wonderful, I think I need to see “It’s a wonderful life”
arts club theatre is the prettiest little theatre in our city; great place to watch live theatre.
My brother really loved it when he went with his school.
Wonder if I’ll feel the same?
Count me in for the raffle this time. If you let me, I might even do a guest post
I did a version of the show two years ago and would love to see the arts club version. Heck, I”m even not working the 22nd!
Three reasons to pick me:
1. Bob Frazer is a joy to see — a delicious villain in the productions I’ve caught. (Like Petruchio in Taming of the Shrew).
2. I’m a total geek for musicals. I download show tunes. (Most recently, Jesus Christ Superstar — man that Judas can wail!)
3. I get a kick out of your use of “Anglo-Saxon” in this context. (First encountered this use in Europe, where I bothered arguing about it, by saying I’m Irish/Swedish…not the same). A gentler form of WASP?
Reason not to pick me:
1. Lois has been in the show. Seeing a show you’ve been in is something special.
This would be an awesome xmas gift for my friend.
I’d love to take Tanya to this! Thanks Raul!
What a great idea! I’d love to bring my significant other to this… believe it or not, he’s been living in Vancouver for 7 years now and has never been to a show at the Arts Club! (I know, I know!) We’ve had many drinks on the patio of the Backstage Lounge, but methinks that doesn’t count!
I’ll take my ol’ ma if I win…she’s the one who introduced me to this show in the first place all those years ago!
My wife have gone the last 3 years… a must see for the holidays!
It’s A Wonderful Life is my absolutely favourite Christmas movie of all time. I quote it a lot. My favourite scenes are:
1. After Young George recovers from going deaf in one ear and as he is scooping ice cream, a young Mary leans over and whispers in his deaf ear “George Bailey, I’ll love you till the day I die”
2. The scene when Mary and George meet again and do the Charlston
3. Love the moment where Mary and George share the phone right before he kisses her.
I could go on and on. Hope the stage play captures all those moments
Great work Raul! Keep it up!
Nice! Would love to go
Sounds like a great production! I’d think this would be great on stage. I’d love to see it!
Oh I would love to go see a live performance of this holiday classic! <3
This would be perfect after my last final.
Christmas just isn’t the same without this movie! I’d love to go and see the play
I’d love to see this play, it looks great!
To be honest I never thought of “It’s A Wonderful Life” as a “Christmas” movie, but what the hell I’ll enter
oh oh pick me – if I won I’d take my dad for a little holiday father-daughter date night.
That seems like a wonderful christmas gift
I wish I could enter, but I’m going to be out of town. Fun raffle though Raul!
Oh! Oh! That would be awesome. I would love to go see this.
I have a dental appointment for two fillings on the 22nd; perhaps a theatre outing would calm my customary post-novocain crying jag.
I’m going to the hockey game that night, but I’d love to win these so that I can give them to my parents. They deserve a nice night out on the town.
Argh. I just realized that I’m too late to enter.
YEAH! I was the winner! thanks so much Raul (and of course Arts Club!) I know the run is a sell out, I’m so grateful for the tix!
