Oh my.. I first started going to film festivals in Calgary years & years ago..
The Arusha Center in Calgary would put on these fantastic film fests @ UofC.. I guess it may have been the CIFF back then… not sure.. but it was years ago (ack.. 12-15+). So inexpensive to attend for the whole wkend.. and LOADS of environmental and socially aware & culturally focused films..
It was always the environmental films that got me.. and the World’s Funniest Commercials… the environmental ones were always the best.. totally crazy, brutal, even graphic, but conveyed such a
message! SO many vivid, vivid memories of The Plaza theatre in Calgary seeing films like “Latcho Drom” & seeing “trois couleurs bleu” like 15x at The Globe!
ALL of these films are on my MUST see list! But especially H2Oil – since it’s about AB & I lived there for some very formative years of my life and “At the Edge of the World”, as my nickname is Dolphin & has been since HS.. and whales, dolphins.. all sea creatures have captured my heart for so long.

Anyway.. blah, blah.. should just get my own blog…

Thanks for this contest – a great range of films. I’m particularly interested in Around the World with Joseph Stiglitz. More needs to be done and said about the consequences and costs of climate change and the impact on workers and marginalized people. Climate justice is my mantra.

Just found out about the blog via the Tyee. Looks like there’s lots of good information. I’m a UBC student researching information about the Deltaport project. Specifically, I’m want to see how people “value” an eco-system like Burns bog–find out why they care about it.

All these movies sound great! So bring on the free tickets please.
