I have to agree - I enjoyed the movie and have seen it twice already. Scotty kind of got on my nerves initially, but I'm slowly getting used to him. I’ve watched Star Trek TNG and a few of the episodes afterward, but I was quite excited about the new Star Trek Movie that came out. I had heard good reviews about it. What I liked about the movie was that it was exciting, and there weren’t any loopholes in the story line. Personally I would recommend people to definitely go watch it, whether you are a Star Trek fan or not.

I consider myself a mild Trekker – barely remember the original series but loved The Next Generation and all the movies.

I loved this movie for many of the reasons you listed. The actors managed to make the characters recognizable without it feelings like they were simply imitating them. I particularly loved Quinto’s Spock – it was amazing to see the emotion below the surface.
