Green your Valentine’s to win tickets to snowshoeing and foundue in Cypress Mountain
Despite my aversion to snow (remember, I love warm climates), I have to admit that there are A LOT of fun activities that you can carry out in Cypress Mountain. One of them is snowshoeing, and what better way to conduct a snowshoe experience than to do it with a chocolate fondue tour?
Well, Emme’s recent Valentine’s contest on Sexy in VanCity (to which I submitted an entry) inspired me to do a contest of my own. Thanks to Cypress Mountain (hat tips to Jess Sloss), I’m happy to offer to the winner of the contest “Green Your Valentine’s Day” an awesome snowshoeing tour for two people.
Details of the prize:
Chocolate Fondue Tour (3 hrs)
When: Wednesday February 25th, 6:30-9:30pm
Experience a 1.5 hr snowshoe through the woods and glades of Hollyburn plateau on your way to our rustic upper warming hut. First we’ll warm you up from the inside with a mug of steaming hot chocolate or spiced apple cider. Then enjoy a dessert of chocolate fondue with a variety of fruits and angel fruit cake; surrounded by romantic candle-light and soaking up the heat of a traditional wood-burning stove. [Cypress Mountains]
And now, here is how you can win the contest…
Leave a comment on this post (or write a blog post) describing the ways in which you plan to “green” your Valentine’s Day celebration. A comment gets you one entry into the contest, a blog post does get you two entries to the contest. Whether it is just sending your loved one an e-Valentine’s card to going for a sustainable/organic dessert , or dinner with a lower ecological footprint (maybe vegan/vegetarian), or consuming biodynamic wines… what are YOU doing to Green Your Valentine’s?
Entries will be accepted until Friday February the 13th, at 11:58pm, and the tickets for the winner will be drawn, (and announced) at 11:00am on Saturday, February 14th (so that you can tell your Valentine that you have won, should you be the lucky winner!)

Raul: I’m having the greenest Valentine’s Day ever – I have no main squeeze, therefore no gift-giving, card-exchanging or unrealistic expectations to meet! Are singles ineligible for your contest? If so shame! I have any number of wonderful frieneds of both sexes I would be happy to take with me to Vancouver on a snowshoe/fondue night. I would even offset the carbon emissions due to the travel (I live on the Island).
Also – I do have a blog post about V-Day – but it’s scheduled to publish on Saturday: http://grimpeuse.wordpress.com.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
This year, my wife and I have decided on a “do nothing” Valentine’s Day, which boring as it may sound, is not without some romance.
Rather than organize a babysitter and brave the overcrowded restaurant scene on the 14th, we’re opting for a quiet evening in, a romantic dinner (as romantic as you can be with a toddler present) and maybe a few surprises I’m not prepared to divulge here. *ahem.*
As you may know, this year and the rest of the year, we send each other “digital love notes” via Twitter that get posted to http://nubnoo.com by using the tag #nubnoo. What could be more environmentally than passing love notes through 1s and 0s rather than their dead-tree brethren?
So here’s mine, a tweet that I will re-post shortly, linking back to this comment for brownie points:
I love you, Yobo;
And not just on the 14th.
My best friend, my love.
We could really use a romantic date for two with chocolate fondue, ya dig?
Unfortunately I have no plans for Valentines day this year
Great contest though, I found it through SweepsAdvantage (http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/new.php). Good luck to everybody who enters.

I’m cooking a 3-course meal for my husband using as many local, seasonal, and organic ingredients that can be purchased from a 10 minute walk from our home.
Also sending him an e-valentine care of my favourite environmentalist, David Suzuki!

I entered! I entered! Go here and read it: http://www.drbethsnow.com/blog/2009/02/13/my-greeny-valentine/
Curious. Who won? And did they have as a delightful a time as I had with the dashingly Handsome Keith Arbuthnot?
