Inserting a video (YouTube or other) into my posts?

As you may know, dear readers, I *love* doing music reviews (particularly because I have certain songs that are my favorite and I like keeping track of them). But as you can see from the last post, I couldn’t import the video. With Blogger, all you have to do is go to the code page and copy the “Embed Link” provided on YouTube. How do you guys do it on WordPress?

Hey Raul,

Unfortunately you have to turn off “visual editor” when writing your blog posts. Go to Users > Your Admin Account > Edit > and uncheck “use the visual editor when writing”. This will change your post writing screen to be in html plain text/code and not WYSIWYG (what you see if what you get). Now that you compose messages with plain text, you can insert any embed code and publish. It will preserve everything.

Thanks so much Rebecca! Apparently I did it the right way! (after you taught me how to do it!) — The Corrs post is updated and the video is up and running!

Hi Raul, Rebecca has one solution, but if you like the visual editor, there is no need to turn it off. You can embed youtube videos on a WordPress.com blog rather easily. Below your post window is an upload area, including a choice for video, you just have to put in the URL. Alternatively, you can do it manually by just typing in the following:

[youtube=Youtube video URL]

For example: [youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ig3HZpX7aRI]

Welcome to wordpress.
